Geography & Landscape

The Kyrgyz Republic borders China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Mountains cover 94% of the territory. The highest peaks include Victory Peak (7,439 m), Lenin Peak (7,134 m), and Khan Tengri (6,995 m).

The landscape includes deserts, steppes, meadows, forests, wetlands, alpine tundra, and approximately 2,000 lakes. The country is located along the ancient Silk Road.

Wildlife

Local wildlife includes bears, snow leopards, lynxes, deer, wild boars, wolves, and Marco Polo sheep. The snow leopard is one of the national symbols.

A significant event of 2025 was the discovery of a dinosaur estimated to be around 150 million years old.

Culture & Heritage

The nation takes pride in its globally renowned epic "Manas" and its celebrated author Chinghiz Aitmatov. Rich cultural heritage shaped by the Silk Road and nomadic traditions.

Tourism Recognition

"The Telegraph" included the country in the TOP-10 states where a tourism boom is expected.

According to the Russian Traveller Awards, the Kyrgyz Republic has been recognized as the Best International Tourist Destination for 2025.

According to the WTTC, the republic ranks among the top countries projected to see unprecedented tourism growth. In 2024, the country welcomed approximately 7 million visitors.

In January 2026, the Kyrgyz Republic was included in the ranking of the best places to visit compiled by The New York Times.

Food & Local Products

All international visitors remark on the exceptional quality of local produce and cuisine. Meat, fruits, vegetables, honey, dairy products are considered benchmarks of world-class quality.

Cows, sheep, and yaks graze exclusively on high-mountain pastures, making the meat ecologically pure.

Kyrgyz cognac, produced from excellent local grape varieties, is known for its rich aroma and smooth, nutty flavor.
